High: Having and awesome holiday party at work where I gorged myself on yummy food and spiked hot cider, listened to Christmas music and got this as a gift from my boss:

Low: Getting hit in the Marshalls parking lot (why, Marshalls? Why?) as I was backing out of a space. The old man who hit me had originally passed me, but then decided to throw his car in reverse and come flying backwards to get a space. It was like slow motion–I couldn’t get my car into drive fast enough and all of the sudden there was a BANG and his bumper was in my fender. Crap.
We got out of our cars and he explained that “I couldn’t look backwards while I was backing up.” Bewildered, I exclaimed, “That’s why you hit me!”
It was like pulling teeth to get his insurance information (”I don’t know if I even carry it,”) and I practically had to force my contact information on him. And he didn’t want to call the police because “it’s not a crime, I just hit your car.”
Oh. My. God.
After he left I called Michael repeatedly, but couldn’t get in touch with him. Just as I was about to try again, Jen called. At which point I burst into tears and told her what happened. Her mom suggested I go to the police station and fill out a report so I did. I walked in a puffy from my tears of frustration and began filling out the paperwork. Michael arrived just as I was finishing and I can not tell you how happy I was to see him.
The dent in my car isn’t awful, but it still sucks I have to go through the whole insurance thing now. Merry freaking Christmas, huh?
High: Going out with Jen afterwards because I could really use a drink and exchanging Christmas presents. She really liked what I got her and it was nice to see her open it.
Low: Waking up at 1 a.m. with just enough time to run to the bathroom before emptying the contents of my stomach every hour, on the hour until 4 a.m. At one point (sorry, this is gross) I was sitting on the toilet with the garbage can on my lap, not knowing where it was going to come out of and shaking from the nausea. And also wishing that I had thought to grab a hair tie because if puke got in my hair I think that would be the worst part of all.
High: Not puking since 4 a.m.
Low: My whole body feels like it’s been run over by a train.
High: I get to start my vacation one day early.
Low: It will be spent on the couch feeling crappy.
High: But Michael is home with me.
Happy weekend.

That is a crappy way to start the holidays. I hope you feel better. I spent last Christmas Eve you are now. Away from home. With F’s parents.
It’s called the stomach flu. DO NOT eat anything, but maybe crackers, and even then, not so much.
I hope you feel better soon!!

1. What a GREAT boss gift! I wish I got gifts like that.
2. That really sucks about your fender bender
What a douche! I can’t stand it when people blame their mistakes on others. I just had my windshield busted out by a falling medicine cabinet, so I feel your pain on that one.
3. I’ve had that puking experience before (on the toilet with the trash can), and it is NOT fun. Glad you’re feeling much better.
4. Merry Christmas!

Oh no, Molly! I’m so sorry that your car got hit and that you’re sick! I hope you feel better today…hopefully good daytime tv will cheer you up. I can’t believe the guy who hit you was so nonchalant about the whole thing. I don’t know what the laws are like where you live, but here in VA, if you’re not carrying insurance, you go to jail. It’s mandatory. Hopefully you’ll get everything fixed up without a problem. And btw…I’m totally jealous that your boss got you a Coach bag! I love the Coach patchwork…aghhhhhhhhhhh I got a “happy holidays” from my boss! HA!

I have totally had that puking on the hour every hour, while sitting on a toilet. It’s horrible. It’s such a weird thing to notice that you puke on the hour every hour while you are sick though, and annoying because you begin to dread as the hour approaches. I had this happen to me on vacation one time, not fun at all.
(PS I’m just started reading your blog. and I love it, I hope your holidays only get better from here!)

Oh my gosh, I’m sorry to hear about all of those terrible lows! I can’t believe the old guy actually said he couldn’t look backwards while backing up….HELLO! That’s what you do when you’re back up, dumbass! Argh!
And the whole stomach virus thing…ugh…I’ve been there before (on New Year’s Eve last year of all times!) and it truly does suck. Hope you feel better in time for all of the Christmas treats!
And one more thing, that bag is awesome! What a great boss you have!

Gah. I hope you feel better. Also, you didn’t really describe the purse yesterday. I knew I’d love it, but it’s adorable!
I’m glad you got the police involved with the accident. The whole I was reading it, I was like ‘PLEASE call the cops!’ and I was so relieved when you said you filled out a report. A crazy lady rear-ended me this summer and we just exchanged insurance information and we didn’t call the cops because there wasn’t really any damage. Long story short(er), my dad told me to go get some estimates just to make sure it was okay, but it turned out when I contacted the lady’s insurance to let them know I wanted to file a claim that the car she was driving at the time she hit me wasn’t even covered on her plan. So basically, it would have come down to my word against hers. Thank god there wasn’t any damage because that would have gotten nasty.
Anyway, I hope you have a lovely Christmas.

Make sure you give your insurance his information. If you have full coverage, they should take care of everything for you. I hope it works out.
Enjoy your day off, I’m here at school with four kids. Why oh Why couldn’t we have had today off?

Aw, I’m sorry that you’re sick. My roommate just got over a huge cold by handing it to me. Right before I leave for a two week vacation. *sigh* At least M’s brother (who we’re visiting) is a doctor.
I had to wipe drool when I saw your Christmas gift.
And I was rear ended about two months ago, and yeah…insurance is a huge pain. Save yourself some time and frustration by only contacting the other persons insurance. Going through yours is nothing but a headache.
I hope your weekend gets massively better. Merry Christmas!

I can totally relate to the gross issue – I had the exact same thing last year at this time. Make sure you get lots and lots of fluids. Going to urgent care for an IV is no fun.
Also? I need a new job. I got a can of peanuts for Christmas.

Believe me…I know all about dealing with insurance and having to figure out what to do with a car that has been hit…totalled actually. But as of yesterday everything has worked out and I have a brand new car
Also…presents..from students…wow. Nothing like yours, a few gift cards, a million boxes of chocolates, cookies, brownies, mugs, random little nick nacks. It’s insane!

Molly,
Just wanted to let you know that your blog is one of my guilty pleasures. In the mad chaos of my life–when the insanity becomes too much for the head inmate, I come here and feel an almost zen like quality. Your blog pacifies me in that regard. Don’t ask how or why–it just does.
I think you’re a doll and your life seems lovely. I wish you and Michael nothing but good things and hope that this Christmas is wonderful and that the New Year brings you both a happiness that you’ve never known before.
Here’s to peace and joy,
Merry Christmas, Molly!

AWWW. I hope you feel better honey. I had the same experience a few years ago about six hours before the most heinous deadline of all three years of law school . . . middle of the night, trying to finish a brief, and in the turlet with a trash can on my lap. Poor thing.
