I’ve never done a vlog before, mostly because I thought I would sound like an idiot (does anyone like themselves on camera?), but I’ve seen that accent one floating around lately and figured, why not? I did sound a little bit like an idiot, but that’s ok.
I’ve included the prompts if you want to follow along/post your own. Do I sound like what you thought I would???
Say these words:
Aunt, route, wash, oil, theatre, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught
And answer these questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that curls into a ball when you touch it?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?

Laura/Sasha Ray lol (for old times sake)
I’m glad after all these years, you sound much like I expected.
I am currently at work but will try to do one later so you can see what a Louisiana transplant in California sounds like.

What do you say to address a group of people?
You apparently say “bye guys.”
Love you!

You do not sound anything like I expected! I had no idea you were such a New Yawka. (This is coming from a fellow New Yawka, so I mean this in the BEST possible way.) Also, you sound much more tough than I thought you would – again, this is a compliment!! Do more vlogs, it’s so fun to hear you after years of reading!

You sound a lot like I thought you would. Your voice fits you. (Does that make sense?) And no, I don’t think you sounded like an idiot.

You sound just like I thought you would. Which is to say, cute. I may do this at one point too, but I don’t think I have an accent or have odd names for anything. Though I do say “soda” when everyone around me says “pop.”

HEE! I loved “Mama!” at :10! I’m a Pennsylvanian so was with you on all this…. except my family always called shopping carts “buggies”! Ha!

I’m surprised to find that you pronounce every thing almost exactly the same way as me, and answered all the questions the way I would, except for soda is most definitely pop. But I’m from Vancouver! I would have thought we’d have more answers that were different

I think you sound like an un-accented Northeasterner – not a heavy NY accent, or Boston, or whatever. But you definitely say vowels the way that NE folks do, which is different from the way West Coast folks do. But subtly different.
I love these things!

I loved this, I think I am going to do it after the October Photography Challenge. I know my accent is changing since we have moved out of the US so sounds good to document it!

Great to hear your vlog after reading you for so long! I agree with some of the comments above–you sound much tougher than I imagined ( and I mean that in a good way!).
Keep them up–they are lots of fun to watch!

This is so funny. You sound NOTHING like I expected. I remember you once saying that you blog “Molly Light,” and I guess it makes sense when I think about it that way, but damn! I imagined your voice to be softer and higher. However, I think I like real Molly better than my imagination Molly!
