Hi. I’m Molly and I love shoes.
You knew that, right? Well I love them so much that I want to share the wealth with you guys.
I was recently contacted my the PR company for Marshalls — the off-price retailer where you can find clothes, home goods, bags, SHOES and more for way less than department stores or boutiques. Marshalls’ around the country are creating a new in-store boutique called Marshalls Shoes MegaShop where even more designer shoes will be available!
As some of you who read my gchat message the other day already know, they have offered me a gift certificate for FREE SHOES. Be still my heart. Nothing could make me happier.
But because I love you guys so much, I asked if they would send me another gift certificate. For you!
In the near future they will be sending me a widget that will direct you to an interactive shoe game where you can win a shopping sweepstakes just for playing! But in the meantime, we’ll play a little game of our own here.
Leave a comment on this post and tell me what kind of shoes you would buy with your $50 gift certificate to Marshalls. Black peep toe pumps? Gold Grecian sandals? Wellies?
The contest will run until Thursday, May 15th at 5 p.m. EST. The winner will be chosen at random and announced on Friday.
Good luck!!
Comments are now closed. Thanks for playing!

Oh glorious! I would get a pair of black peep toe wedge espadrilles, similar to the ones we were discussing last week (just saw them there this weekend) or maybe a flat pair of sandals. Or maybe both!

Hmm, I was just thinking this morning about how I need a new pair of comfortable black pumps and how I would convince my husband to let me buy some. Maybe now I won’t have to? 🙂

Omg, I want free shoes! I’ve been following your blog for a while now, and figured today would be a good day to delurk. And all the better if I happen to get shoes out of the deal!
I would buy a pair of rain boots for my walk to work on rainy mornings.
And now that I’ve revealed myself, I’ll be sure to comment more in the future!
I love your blog!

I’m going to be lame and boring and say either a cute pair of sneakers or flip-flops. I’m low maintenance like that. Plus, they’re really all I wear.
May 13, 2008 at 9:37 am
Jessie
I need some new navy pumps, they must be comfortable.

I was so wishing I had you on speed dial yesterday as I was shoe shopping. I desperately need to find shoes to go with this chocolate brown, pleated skirt I bought almost two years ago (originally to wear for my rehearsal dinner). I have never worn it because I have no idea what shoes to wear with it. So I would by some sort of sassy heel to wear with my two year old nwt chocolate pleated skirt from JCrew.

I am a boob, so I would probably put it towards some new running shoes. I really need them. I decided the last time to buy Nike’s because they are cute and fit well enough. I learned my lesson. My feet need adidas. They just fit better.

I have been DYING to add a pair of the platform taupe pumps to my shoe-drobe. Like the ones Posh always wears? You know? I MUST have…the only question is peep toe or closed? Ah, dilemmas of a shoe maven…

Wow! That’s amazing!
If I won the $50, I would totally buy a new pair of brightly colored heels or wedges because I’ve been looking forever and just don’t want to spend all of my own hard earned money! I’d really like some hot pink or these awesome purple and black Stella McCartney shoes.
Sigh.

ohmygosh i love marshalls and they may have just created the 8th deadly sin. Which I am going to partake in a LOT. Man I wish i lived where there was a marshalls near me. And a marshalls shoes store.
I’m in need of some adorable brown peep toed heels, I dont have any cute brown summer shoes for work.
PS I’m going to need your advice on the shoes I need to get for this wedding i’m in. I have to choose ivory shoes and i’m having such a hard time finding them. They’re not white, they’re not off-white, they’re a shimmery ivory color. And I don’t want to spend too much money.
May 13, 2008 at 10:09 am

kate spade flats. i scored a pair of kate spade espadrille wedges the other day at a marshalls and was SO EXCITED!

AWESOME!
I really want the shoes called Guess by Marciano, Newbury black maryjane heels, with peep toe and poppy print. HOT! HOT! HOT!
But, I’d take something similar to that. 😉
PS – Marshalls and TJ Maxx are my best friends.

I’ve been stalking some awesome T-strap sandals for this summer. This would be the perfect way to get them!!!
May 13, 2008 at 10:13 am

Hmmm, that’s a tough question. I’d have to go with Gold Grecian sandals or something similar.

I really NEED some brown and black comfy heels for work, but I’m pretty sure I’d be tempted to buy something more fun than that…especially if they had some cute bright colored summer wedges!
May 13, 2008 at 10:17 am

drooooooooool
there really is no NEED vs WANT for shoes, its the same…
so i guess i WEED or NANT these:
at least 3 pairs of new brightly coloured flats, and one black pair, would love some lace flats too! new pair of black heels, standard, and like 5 pairs of spanking heels in peep toes, polka dots, a jewel tones!
black boots, nice leather, all the way to the knee, and less than a 3 inch heel!
Wedges! cork and patten!
this is just the ice berg tip of what I might look for!
FREE SHOES!
(might be better than sex?)
and MY free shoes, most def would NOT be blah brown!
May 13, 2008 at 10:18 am
Sarah
I think I’d look for some beautiful ivory peep toe shoes for my wedding… because why spend $300 on wedding shoes when you can find them at Marshalls?
May 13, 2008 at 10:20 am

Fun flats!
May 13, 2008 at 10:21 am

Definitely some sort of wedge!

It would have to be a gift to myself. Something fun and exciting that I normally would not buy because I always end up going for the brown, blacks, tans, etc. Perhaps a cute and bright wedge for summer!
May 13, 2008 at 10:34 am

hmmmm…I would have to say a summer wedge/sandal for sure – I have had to completely neglect adding to my shoe collection since last Fall and it is killing me!
May 13, 2008 at 10:34 am

Oh, how awesome!
I would love a pair of black peep toe, mary jane (or tstrap) platform pumps!

Ohhhhhhhh, since it’s summer and the weather is gorgeous here in sunny Florida it HAS to be an absolutely adorable pair of sandals to show of the freshly groomed pedicure! A pair that you can dress up or down. And although I could do with a new pair of black, I love me some color! So, hmmmmm? I may have to stop by Marshall’s on the way home and see what strikes my fancy!
May 13, 2008 at 10:40 am

I would buy a gorgeous pair of silver or gold heels that could go with all of my adorable sundresses I’ll be wearing on my honeymoon in Hawaii next month!

I really want a killer red pair of heels. Y’know, the kind that could stop guys dead in their tracks. Ohhhh yeah.

cute flat new summer sandals to wear with spring and summer clothes!
May 13, 2008 at 11:04 am
Damsel in Digress
something that screams summer and sexy.
i recently saw these platform wedge heels – teal blue straps (tons of straps) and the heel a nice oaky brown color. so, so hot. eye catching. the kind you would see on a girl walking by you and encourage ideas of tackling said girl to rip the shoes off and wear on your own two feet.
maybe i can find their twin!
May 13, 2008 at 11:06 am
Joy
OH MY GOSH! Molly, you are famous!
I’m seriously in to high (like 4″) heels. I love them. Black, red, blue, yellow… I’m addicted. I’d love a pair of sky high, gorgeous shoes. Peep toe? Slingback? Sounds fantastic to me!
May 13, 2008 at 11:06 am

Black pumps or red flats – I need both!!!
May 13, 2008 at 11:13 am

I am in dire need of some new summer shoes to kick off the season. I am thinking some black peep toe pumps that I can wear to work or dress up jeans with! Thanks for thinking of us (your readers)!

very selfish to delurk for shoes.. but here I am. Molly, I love your writing..was reading Clink when I found you and now am a regular.
I am dying to buy some cobalt blue patent flats to go with my white and blue polka dot skirt. this may be the chance 🙂
May 13, 2008 at 11:48 am
Mary
I’ve never commented, but I enjoy reading every new post. Pretty selfish to delurk for free shoes, but we all need a kick in the pants sometimes! 🙂
I am almost 5 months pregnant and in search of a low heeled wedge, peep toe in brown. Perfect for summer months and swollen feet!

Be still my heart, as it nearly exploded when I read “Marshalls Shoes MegaShop.” Dearest Marshalls…you complete me.
If I won the certificate, I would finally buy the coveted pair of Ann Taylor peep toe sling backs, patent leather (spicy!), navy blue, which will go perfectly with my new ice blue tank top that I purchased. At Marshalls. I want these shoes, but alas, they are a bit pricey. So I’m stalking them.
I’m not ashamed to admit that the only reason no one else has purchased these shoes is because I hide them behind the pillows in the Home section every Saturday.
Whatevs.

Yellow pumps. With a high heel, kind of like the Christian Louboutin ones that Heidi Klum wore. Am madly in loooove.
May 13, 2008 at 12:00 pm
elizabethews
I think it only fair that if I were given a free pair of shoes, I splurge on something fun and non-sensible and inappropriate for work. All my shoe ‘allowance’ currently is being speng on classic pumps that go with suits. And sadly are all closed-toed. Truly unacceptable. So it would be fun, flirty, PEEP-TOE shoes. Hook me up, sistah!
And a Mega Shoe Shop. Sounds like heaven.
May 13, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Becky
Wow! That is awesome – congratulations on the gift certificate for yourself!
I would totally look for some funky green heels to wear under my wedding dress for during the reception/dance. I have my pretty ivory peep toe heals for the ceremony, but I want something funky for later!
May 13, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Becky
And by heals I mean heels. Jeebus, my spelling sucks!

I would buy wedding shoes. And if I win, I wouldn’t buy the Croc flats 😉

Wellies! All it has been doing for the last 2 months in St Louis is rain, rain rain. I didn’t buy wellies 2 months ago because I told myself I wouldn’t need them and they would just sit in my closet. But they would be super useful right now!
May 13, 2008 at 12:27 pm

a slightly toned down version of the gladiator sandal that every celeb seems to be rocking these days… What can I say, I’m a sucker for fashion fads.
May 13, 2008 at 12:28 pm

Pointy-toed, reasonably low-heeled, snakeskin silver (with maybe some black in there) pumps. Sharp with my new white pants and awesome grey pants!
May 13, 2008 at 12:28 pm

I totally need a classic pair of black peep toe pumps! I have a tendancy to buy funky, fun shoes and ignore the practical ones I need and will rely on 3x week
May 13, 2008 at 12:29 pm
EM
definitely a cute pair of wedges for the summer!!!
May 13, 2008 at 12:34 pm

I would look for tall, sexy heels with a peep-toe, perhaps a bow, too! Shoes that are the equivalent of a wink (!!) and a smile!!
May 13, 2008 at 12:54 pm
drbolte
ADORABLE PATTERNED SASSY FLATS!
and maybe some cute wedges. mine are…dying.
May 13, 2008 at 12:56 pm
Courtney
Ooooohhhh, I like your style EM. I’m thinking some cute summery wedges with jute along the heal like an espadrille, but not. I just can’t get used the the ankle straps of an espadrille.
That or some hot pink flats to “yowza” those boring outfits.
May 13, 2008 at 12:57 pm
lfar
How’d they find you? That’s fantastic! (Ps- if my number wins, you can draw again, because I don’t think Canada has Marshalls)
May 13, 2008 at 1:13 pm

Hey Molly dear! If I were to win, I would buy a fun new pair of shoe that is multi color and bright pumps or wedges… http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2970019/0~2376778~2372808~2377035~6005056?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6005056&P=1
and then maybe a pair of black ballet flats.
Yay!
May 13, 2008 at 1:27 pm

Wow… so cool! I would get what you suggested… the gold Grecian sandals. I still don’t own a pair. So silly of me.
May 13, 2008 at 1:30 pm
Carrie
I would buy a pair of wedges, probably in black, to wear to all the upcoming weddings I’ll be attending this summer. And then I guess I have to buy a dress to match them…
May 13, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Carolyn
I think I’d end up getting some wedges…white and brown ones if I could.
May 13, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Megan
I would have to buy a pair of black and white plaid shoes or even just a black pair of peep-toes. I’m in need of either pair to go with the dress I’ll be wearing for my bachelorette party. I had a great pair of black heels from Macy’s, but my parent’s dog chewed them up, and I am now without. 😦
May 13, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Sassafras
I can’t really narrow it down but definitely some FUN SUMMER SHOES! Comfortable ones of course 😉
May 13, 2008 at 2:13 pm
Amber
Ah, I was contacted by the Marshalls PR too, and am currently awaiting the arrival of my gift certificate, which couldn’t have come at a better time, because I’ll be in Florida in three weeks, and will be able to spend it. As for the shoes, well, I’m thinking peep toes of some description. Ideally with some kind of bow on them…
May 13, 2008 at 2:28 pm

If I were to have a lovely, little gift certificate, I would be on the prowl for some cute, chocolate brown flats.

zomg thats such an awesome idea! they contacted me also and are sending me a gift certificate 🙂 so i won’t enter but this contest? Such a smart idea 🙂
(i plan on buying shoes with color! I’ve been on a shoes with color kick – green and white flats from old navy, floral ballet flats from target, pink ballet flats from american eagle…but i want colorful sandly shoes…like yellow or gold 🙂 thats what ima buy! )
May 13, 2008 at 3:24 pm

Ahh! I’ve been dying for a pair of gorgeous chocolate brown crocodile-leather pumps. From day to night, work to play, they go with everything and alllllways look great. Size 9 anyone?

I would buy some perfect flats – preferably ones that could go from work to casual all in the same breath. I can’t find any over here, sadly. 😦

Wickedly Scarlett
I always feel like such a loser entering these because I never do win, but dangit, I’ll keep trying!
I’ve been eyeing driving mocs lately–I don’t have any of those in my closet yet! Those or some cute slip on ked-like shoes with a girly design.

New wedge sandals for summer!
May 13, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Rachel
Oh I’m going to go with either a new pair of boat shoes or wedding shoes. Although I suppose they’re technically bridesmaid shoes. But still. At this point anything that can be worn in warm weather is high on the list. Wedge sandals sound nice too, and some cute flats for work. I’m thinking lots of color. I love summer shoes!
May 13, 2008 at 7:44 pm

I hate shoes. I’d by 10 pairs of $5 flip flops. One in every color.
May 13, 2008 at 7:48 pm

I’m usually just a lurker…but I couldn’t resist!!!
I would buy some spunky, yellow or blue polka dot flats!

boy, shoes bring out the comment love!
i’d buy perfect-summer-sundress shoes, which right now i am thinking are brown sandals, slight wedge heel (maybe something organic, like woven grass), open toe and slingback. yup.

May 13, 2008 at 9:29 pm

i would by the crazies pair of fun heels i could find.
why?
because i buy enough pairs of practical shoes on my own.
if i’m getting a free pair they are going to be fun and not something i would normally buy.
May 13, 2008 at 9:32 pm

This is the best contest ever. Shoes I would get? Something tall, and impractical- with thin heels and in a ridiculously gorgeous color. Okay I’m getting too excited. Talking shoes is like my version of porn.
May 13, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Stacy Kathryn
I LOVE contests!! I would totally get red peep toe shoes because I have always wanted a pair of red shoes!
May 13, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Karina
gold peep-toed pumps, for graduation! I am lacking in the shoes with a heel department and want to be able to stand out in my high school issue white gown and cap and gold is the way to stand out! Plus I will be walking on sunshine (ish)!
May 13, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Chelle
Okay. This boring, clunky shoed gal would actually try a pair of ballet flats. I swore after going through the 80s that I would NEVER wear these things again, but just maybe I might. In bright, happy color too!
I swear all my shoes are black, brown, blue or gray. Well, actually my crocks are bright orange, but those are for the house and garden…
😉

Let me be the 101 commenter! I would buy myself the prettiest, black and strappy, 3 inch high

Alright. I have to admit…there are nothing but flip flops and 2 pairs of sneakers in my closet. If I won a $50.00 (holy crap! fifty bucks on ONE pair of shoes? That would be incredible!) gift cert. to Marshalls, I would TOTALLY buy a NICE, I mean like, REALLY NICE, pair of dress shoes. Definently black, and all strappy, and with a heel. A heel like, an INCH long or something. Ones that I could wear to church OR to a nice dinner. Wow…it would be a long day of trying on shoes…..
May 13, 2008 at 11:45 pm
christine
I would tell you to keep the gift certificate and be my personal shopper, because I absolutely suck at buying shoes. I need a versatile pair of black heels (size 7) that will go with my business casual for work, or my little black cocktail dress for dates. Doesn’t the Shoeru want to visit Seattle? It’s lovely in spring/summer, and I offer a comfy guest bed and Belgian waffles, too! 🙂
May 14, 2008 at 2:59 am

i need some new summery sandal type shoes, and i’m thinking of buying them in some fabulously intense color, like bright green or hot pink or something. 🙂

Wow there are a lot of comments!! I would buy something desparately missing from my wardrobe! A pair of comfortable yet stylish black peep toe pumps. I had the PERFECT pair from Steve Madden, but they stretched out because I wore them so much and I had to chuck them. 😦 And now I can’t find them again! Le sigh.

I would buy a pair of wedges. I swore off heels for awhile when I was dating a 5’5″ guy. Now that my new man is 6’3″ anything goes! They’d have to go with the yet to be purchased dress I am wearing to my best friend’s rehersal dinner.

I’m totally coveting these pink circle print Betsey Johnson shoes that tie in the back for graduation: http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/30398642/c/11205.html
unfortunately, I deemed the lace up the back not work appropriate, so for graduation I ended up buying these turquoise Fornarina shoes instead. Damn, can’t find them online! but they’re hot. i’m going to be really excited to pick out my wedding shoes. 🙂

I would buy some form of wedges that would allow me to walk down the aisle in some form of dignity reserved for those who do not wear white platform wedding flip flops – as this is pretty much all I can find, so far.
I already purchased my beloved Alexander McQueen stilettos a la big eBay discount, but I can’t very well aerate the wedding lawn with satin wrapped heels, now can I?
I need shoe advice – Marshall’s $50 free shoe coupon or not. Help!

Either some black pointy heels, some cute summer sandals to go with the khaki and jean skirts I recently purchased, or some cute pink shoes to go with a black and pink dress I just bought. I also need, er want, some cute flats.
I’d just buy some cute shoes.
🙂

I can’t bring myself to replace my favorite everyday black pumps because I love them so much…but it would be a lot easier to do with a gift certficate!

I simply adore shoes! I would purchase a great colorful pair; something with a killer heel (b/c I’m short and all of my pants are long); possibly sling back, and wearable to both work and with jeans!
fingers crossed!

I am seeking the perfect pair of blue shoes as my “something blue” for my December 30 wedding in Grand Cayman! I need a peep-toe, satin or patent with no more than a two-inch heel. None of that baby-blue stuff, either. Give me sexy electric blue! Do such shoes exist?!

Definitely a summer-y pair of shoes…sandals you can dress up or down, or maybe some fun wedges! 🙂 Thanks for letting us participate! 🙂

They would definitely be sexy, more than like also have a great heel on them. I love Marshalls, I picked up a great pair of Michael Kors from there a few weeks ago.

Black flats. I was checking some out today, but couldn’t bring myself to spend the money because I don’t have any! A gift certificate would really help out. 🙂

There were a pair of fantastic Anne Klein wedges that I saw on a recent visit to Marshalls that would look adorable on my feet this summer. Although, I may help out a friend: she recently bought a pair of killer Nine West pumps and they went missing (possibly stolen from her office). She’s heartbroken. And she can’t really replace them as she’s back in Canada now after our vacation in California (which means a vacation to Marshalls).

Great post! I think I’d buy a cute and funky pair of shoes for the wedding, preferably in purple since it’s my fav color and one of the colors for the wedding.

My relationships with shoes are consistently more intimate than my relationships with men. I don’t think this makes me weird at all.
Last month I began a love affair in the shoe section of Nordstrom Rack in a towering, sexy pink BCBG stiletto, with lace-like insets cut out on the sides. Or, a week ago, in a casual tan and cream Michael Kors wedge, offering me a sensible but still fashionable alternative to high heels.
Men come and go, but with a good cobbler and a little love, shoes will last forever.
My $50 would go to a pair of summer sandals. Perhaps an open-toe ballet flat with lace up ties in a green or yellow satin print. Something to wear with a flowy A-line skirt or cute safari-esque short shorts.
I’m glad I found someone who understands a woman’s love for shoes! 🙂

The summer is quickly approaching in DC and that means hot and humid weather. I need some classic, work-appropriate shoes that help me survive the miserable weather! Cute, peep-toe pumps perhaps?

I would purchase some cute sandals or wedges to wear to the pool and beach with my new swimsuit and cover-up! I’m going to Florida next week 🙂

I would put it towards shoes for my wedding. I have really wide feet and am between two sizes so I have a hard time finding good shoes. Thanks for the chance to win shoes!

dear miss molls,
if i had a gift certificate to marshalls for shoes, i would definitely spend it on a pair of their high-end line of shoes…on…are you ready? a basic black pair of power heels. i know, i know, fun shoes are SO much fun to buy…but there’s soemthing about wearing a brand new pair of power heels into an interview that just gives you that confidence…that i-can-take-on-the-worl- attitude…which would be helpful right now given the state of circumstances.
because really, basic black heels given the right pair are SO versatile…and go with everything…and if i’m jobless forever? at least i can wear them out to a bar while i drown my sorrows away (matched with a killer pair of tailored shorts and cute top, obvs.).
love,
