(Taken at 26 weeks. Notice the belly button!)
I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant, which means if This Little Baby comes on time, we only have 13 weeks to go. Holy moly.
Recent updates include the leaking of colostrum — the pre-milk that feeds your baby in the days before your breast milk comes in — which needless to say is…interesting. Also, all of the sudden, nothing fits again, which means I’ll probably have to stock up on a few more tops before we reach the end.
I’m still experiencing occasional Braxton-Hicks contractions, but the bigger I get the less I feel them and I just keep thinking that since they’re working to make my uterus strong for pushing out baby, they’re just fine. My one-hour glucose test is upon me and thanks to mom advice on Twitter and Facebook, I know that I CAN eat a no-sugar meal about 2 hours before the test and it will actually help prevent some of the jitters and headaches that can come with drinking a bottle of pure sugar syrup. Blech. For those that don’t know, I’ll have to drink a very sugary drink, then wait an hour before having my blood drawn to see how my body is processing the sugar. The test is supposed to see if you are at risk for gestational diabetes. Hopefully I pass it easily and won’t have to go back for the three-hour test, which I hear is super annoying.

My doctor says I’m measuring right on track and I feel big, but many people tell me I look small for the end of the 2nd trimester. I think I’m carrying him pretty low, but starting now is the time where I will gain up to a half an inch in my stomach EVERY WEEK, so maybe the official poppage is right around the corner.
According to the newsletters, he’s about 2 pounds and 13 inches long right now, which explains why I feel like he’s everywhere…my sides, under my ribs, kicking my bladder and my cervix.
Yeah, kicking (or punching) my cervix. It feels as good as it sounds.
