I’m in a blog funk, people. I want to share with you the ever-growing list of wedding craziness that fills my head daily, but I don’t want to continually dump that on you. I mean, you don’t want to hear about how I’m stressed about the invitations, how I still need to find socks for the guys, how saving for a wedding blows major chunks and all the in between, right?
Someone please hand me a paper bag.
Because the wedding is taking up about 72% of my brain space and the rest is comprised of work, I cannot be held responsible for whatever nonsense I end up talking about. K?
Got a comment yesterday: “Your blog is comparable to a trashy romance novel.”
I don’t know if this is a compliment or an insult, but if she means my blog is a guilty pleasure that she can’t stop reading, I’ll take it.
Maybe Fabio is available to do a photo shoot for a new header. Think he’ll agree to rolling around in a pile of stilettos? Now that’s a visual for you.
I made these Key Lime Meltaways last night and was really disappointed. It wasn’t that they tasted bad, it was just that they were drier than I thought they would be and after doing all the work (including running back out the store after realizing we did not have a cheese grater. How did we not have a cheese grater?) I was just hoping for something better.
(Side note: is it worth buying a microplane? I mean, it’s great in theory, but how often will I use it?)
I’ve been doing sets up push ups at my desk. Yes, seriously. You can’t see me based on the way my cube is set up and since I can’t go to the gym tonight I figured why not. It’s a good way to break up the day.
Except I’m wearing a necklace that makes noise when I move and because of that I have to hold it in mouth when I do the push ups. If anyone walks over in the middle of a set I’ll be seriously mocked.
Yes, taking off the necklace did occur to me. No, I didn’t do it.
This was the most random post ever.

I guess you didn’t have a cheese grater because I have two. Sorry about that.
Random is fun!

Random is always the best!
I envy your motivation though.. even doing the push ups at work when you’ve got time. I seriously need to start keeping up with this 100 push up challenge thing.

I feel ya. My brain is 95% wedding, like 2% work, and I think the rest is just dead space.
Sorry the meltaways didn’t turn out as yummy as you hoped. They looked good in the picture. But doesn’t it always end up that way? š

I would suggest a zester rather than a microplane. You might get more use out of the zester.

I say no to the microplane. I say use a cheese grater (one of the hand-held paremesan types). They are very versitile and Alton Brown would approve – he doesn’t like uni-taskers.
And you’re stressing about socks? That needs to stop. No one will see them. Make them wear black wal-mart socks…just for kicks!

I love love love hearing about the wedding plans. Keep it coming! Even the stressful, random stuff is interesting b/c you’re such a great writer.

I would totally use the microplane. In fact, I have ordered one from my friend who gets his baking supplies from a restaurant supply store for cheap.
I love the recipe for those meltaways and will be trying them. I wonder what could make them less dry… maybe baking them less, less flour, beating the butter more? Hmm.

i was gonna try to make those tonight! sadness. oh well. i probably still we…here’s to hoping!
and there is nothing wrong with writing about your wedding. it’s where you’re at right now and whats the point of writing if you can’t write about what’s important to you.right.now.? hmm?

I love that you are doing push ups at your desk. Why didn’t I think of that!
And I don’t get the trashy romance novel. I get that it’s fun and addictive if that’s what they’re going for, but at least clarify that when you make the analogy!

Go ahead and do your venting about the wedding. How else will you remember any of it once the day has passed?
Try these cookies. They are shortbready and limey. And tasty!

The image of Fabio rolling in the shoes is cracking me up! Also the holding the necklace in your mouth. i would do the same thing.
And I think your writing about wedding stuff is helpful to those who are in the same boat. From some of the comments, it sounds like your readers really relate to the wedding stuff.

OH YES! It feels like it is all happening alllll at once and my pocket book is looking empty… I still have to get the bridesmaids gifts! I was thinking tiny Vera Bradley bags… what do you think? The newest print fits in my whole wedding theme/pallet… I was hoping to get a small bag for each of the girls.
I don’t know… but wedding wedding wedding is on my mind. One month and one day to go…!!! OMG! WOOHOOO! š

I love this post and I seriously heart you. You know the drill- bitchy commenters should just move on if they don’t care for what they’re reading. Only assholes make comments like that- there’s just no point in being rude on someone else’s personal blog.
Also, are you going with argyle socks? I want argyle socks!

I have a small-ish grater with 4 sides – one looks like a regular cheese grater, the second is like a microplane, the third has a single slicer so you can make big slices of cheese or even slice a zucchini or something on there, the fourth side has three of the single slicers.
Yup. Random =)

I love your blog! I get disappointed when I visit your site and I’m not rewarded with a new post.
I do have to say your wedding craziness affirms my decision even further to do it in a courthouse. Or a destination wedding. Drop some cash and let someone else plan it for you!

Ohhh I like the microplane much better than our current grater. It has three sides for different sizes but it’s really annoying.
And non sequitur blogs? Are the best. š

YEs a microplane is SO SO worth the $$$ it costs. I had one (courtesy of a housemate) and when she moved out, taking it with her, the cheese grater was just never the same.
Then again, only if you generally just citrus zest in lots of recipes and/or parmesean cheese, nutmeg etc. It’s amazing what recipes are just SO much better with some zest as well as juice in them. You’ll start adding it to everything!!!

I totally heart my microplane. I use it all the time because it’s so much faster to pull out than my three-part handheld grater thingy like they have at the Olive Garden. The microplane is dishwasher safe, and it fits into any which corner of the top rack that you need to fill.
And, um, Molly? Darling, why on earth are you picking out the socks for the guys? Is anyone going to see them? Are your groomsmen wearing Bermuda shorts? (Okay, that visual just made me laugh and I don’t even know your groomsmen.)

I love your website… it’s one of the first things I check everyday.
I take a pass on the microplaner… but I might be in the minority! š

It is TOTALLY worth buying a microplane. Worth every penny. Not being paid to say that, by the way.

Microplanes rock.

Definitely invest in the microplane; when zesting, it makes all the difference.

If you are thinking about wedding stuff, then talk about wedding stuff. We love whatever you have to say, about anything. And this is a MAJOR thing that is going on in your life! (But, yeah… why can’t the boys pick out their own socks?!?)
That was the best visual ever. Seriously. If you could make that your header, I would be the happiest girl you know! š
Could you, um, maybe register for the microplane? (Or is it too late?) I don’t have one (and I survive!) but my mom does and I think she loves it. Meh, depends how much zesting one does, I suppose.
I really wish I could have seen you do necklace-mouth pushups. That sounds fantastic, and I could have used the laugh yesterday!!

Not only is the microplane worth it, the ONE FOR YOUR FEET is worth it, too.
For serious. Nothing else has made my feet so smooth, and I am not being paid to say this. Nor did I even get it for free.
And loving the image of the necklace pushups. Inspiring, lady!

I’ve been thinking about how I can get those pushups into my regular routine…
