I need blogging break.
I’ve been struggling with this decision for a while, because part of me thinks the minute I hit Publish on this post, I’m going to regret it. I’ll come crawling back to the interwebs begging you to take me back.
But there’s another part of me that thinks this is a good decision. Not an end, just a break. A few weeks without the self-imposed pressure of writing a blog post. Because, I’m tired. I’m tired of being told that my writing is going downhill, or that I’m boring. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say, it’s more like I just don’t feel like saying it right now.
I started blogging because I wanted a writing outlet. I stuck with blogging because from within the pages of These Little Moments developed an amazingly supportive and awesome community. But now, I’m not sure who I’m writing for anymore…you, or me?
The break will be one month-long. On December 17th I will return, either for good, or to say goodbye. In the meantime, maybe I’ll go write somewhere anonymously, or break out that thing we used to call a journal and use a pen.
I hope that those of you who have made These Little Moments what it is will come back in a month. Because I really do love you guys. And please keep writing, because I’ll be out there, reading you.
Until December…

I really hope that you don’t stay away for good on December 17th…I know that I’ll miss you in the interim, but I hate the thought of you being gone for good. It’s such a good support network here. 🙂

Well I love you blog and I certainly hope you don’t go away for good. I will miss reading your blog in the meantime.

I know exactly what you mean and good for you to be strong enough to take a break (that’s a hard thing in itself). But it feels oh so good – enjoy it because you deserve it! I’ll miss you though.

I hope it’s not forever!
I know how you feel though. I hate that I write some things because I feel like others will like it and don’t write other things because I am afraid of what people will think. Grr.
Enjoy your break!

I hope this isn’t a result of the haters, but I understand the desire to release yourself from the “obligation” of regular blogging. Enjoy your hiatus, though I’m with the others, I hope you’ll come back eventually.

Wow you know you’ve made it once people you don’t even know start telling you you’ve gone downhill! But in all seriousness, I’ll miss reading what you write. I hope you come back.

Hope you get it all figured out. Sometimes, with such a large following, it’s hard to write for yourself (I would imagine anyways)
Have a relaxing blog break!

Oh man, really? We’ll miss you for sure. I think every single blog I’ve been reading has decided to not blog any more. 😦 Ah well… good things can’t last forever right? Best of luck to you Molly and I do hope you come back to us. xo

I hope you don’t stop blogging for good! I have enjoyed reading your blog and you were the one who inspired me to start my own and get back into writing. Enjoy your break!

What I love best about your writing on this blog is the day-to-day Seinfeld-like observations, which are often the “little moments” that make up most of our lives and cut across all ages and lifestyles.
The driver in the next car; the person in the coffee shop; the girl with the outfit; these are the kind of things you have mentioned that I think a lot of your readers related to. I know some of what you say has been so “on” that I can’t help but say “YES” when I am reading it. Not always, but a lot.
I hope you have a good blog-vacation. I also hope you are not leaving because of a few people who are “bored”. I don’t think you should be writing for them, as much as for yourself. It’s good stuff. And thank you. 🙂

Oh no! Molly, I have enjoyed reading your blog so much, and I hope (and hope) that you don’t stop blogging. You are one of my daily checks (along with Dooce, Confessions of Pioneer Woman, and LOLcats, of course), and I’m going to miss seeing new updates on your site.
I really don’t understand why people would ever leave critical comments. I mean, this is a blog – not legislation. To all those haters – I say, go away! I think you are a fabulous writer, and at times it’s refreshing to know that not everyone has a jet-setting lifestyle or daily life-altering moments. Sometimes you just need to sit and watch the popcorn. 🙂
I will miss your new posts but look forward to hearing about your hibernation! Take care.

Hey Miss. Molly,
I too hope that this break isn’t for good. I totally understand your need to take a break and applaud you.
We will miss you!
I love your writing and being part of this community.
Love,
Laura

Molly, I’m so sad you’re taking a break only because like Megan, your blog has been one of my daily checks and a lot of what you say sounds like something I think about myself. People who criticize your blogs are crazy – no one is forcing them to read any of this. I think after your break, you’ll come back refreshed and will have the strength to ignore the people who critique you and enjoy all of us who just love reading what’s going on with you. Write for you, let the real you shine through, and we’ll love it even more:)

I hope you don’t go away forever! I have really enjoyed reading your blog for awhile now. I actually enjoy the ‘boring’ posts… they’re still relateable and I find if comforting that not everyone lives a super-fast paced and always-glamorous lifestyle. I often laugh at the little things you write about- like popping popcorn- that is why I read your blog everyday. However, its understandable that you need a break- I think we all hope you come back on December 17!
p.s. screw the haters- they are just bitter people. you seem like a pretty cool chick to me.

I found your blog through Clink’s – right before she left for good. And for at least a year now (maybe longer?) I’ve really enjoyed reading everything you’ve posted. (For the record, I don’t think I ever read a post and thought, “Wow that was boring.”)
I guess this is just me echoing so many others and saying I hope you decide not to quit. Of course, all begging aside, this blog is for you, not us.
I hope you enjoy your break! Know that lots of people will miss you. 🙂

Molly, your blog has meant so much to me these past few years. But I understand your decision! Maybe try tumblr? i’m in love with how easy it is! (and no long blogs required, just thoughts and pics)

Take whatever break you need, lady! And take the pressure off! Write what and when you want to…my blog philosophy that if it’s a personal blog, and you’re not getting paid, screw what anyone thinks! If they don’t like it, they don’t have to read it. I enjoy your blog, and I hope you’ll keep writing, but certainly don’t do it for me/us/anyone but yourself! 🙂

Oh, Molly! It’s sad to see you go, if only for a month. That said, I can imagine that there is pressure to come up with something to post every day. I never could understand why people would make unfavourable comments here, but I know that even though they can be laughed off, they must still hurt.
Either way, thank you for sharing with us. I hope you have a good break.

I am sad to hear it Molly, but I completely understand. You have written numerous times about the haters, and I cant imagine how many there are that you havent written about. Hopefully you dont decide to quit blogging all together. The past year (I think, who knows, maybe more) I have grown to love your blog and check it daily, sometime twice a day, and I have been known to read your past posts over and over, especially when I need a laugh or a smile. Like someone said above it is refreshing to know that someone else doesnt have exciting days all the time. I think that it makes you easy to relate to, and a great “internet friend” to have.
I hope to see you back in December, hopefully for good, and if not, then I wish you all the best in your life. But you can bet I will still be here in December to see what you choose. Good luck, and I hope that you have a nice blogging vacation and Happy Thanksgiving!

It blows my mind that people say such things. First rule as a blog reader: if you don’t like it, stop reading it! Click away! No one is making you read their blog, there is no gun to your head, no one asked you to critique their stuff. Sheesh.
Do what’s best for YOU. I would welcome you back.

I’m an older reader of yours and enjoy it immensely. I hope my daughter grows up to be as together as you are. Yes there are glitches in life but you’ve given me some sort of insight into my daughter (she is 15 and just in high school). I hope you don’t make this black or white but maybe just write when you feel like it. Imagine when you get pregnant and don’t have this blog…awful to imagine.
Enjoy your time off or just pop in periodically to do an update. Don’t make it a chore. Share when you get a job etc etc etc.

Oh no!!!! You can take a vacation, but you can’t leave forever.
You started out on an incredible journey with all of us, and it’s not over. We all want to see you become a mother, and we want to be here when you celebrate your wedding anniversary….5 years from now…..so please reconsider….we don’t think you’re boring, we think you’re fabulous!!!

Molly, I know exactly what you’re going through. It’s always important to keep the balance between writing for yourself and writing for others. I promise, if you don’t find it, and feel the need to close this blog, it’s not the end of the world. But you would definitely be missed. It’s definitely been a pleasure. Hope you find what you’re looking for.

Just because I would keep up with you in real life doesn’t mean I won’t miss it!
Even though I’ve been a bad blogger and reader this year, I have very frequently checked in, I just love your voice.

i really don’t understand the point of being e-tough. why? writing for other people and for yourself is only fun if you’re enjoying it. when it’s not a hobby anymore and more of a task it starts to suck. breaks are needed…so enjoy. happy holidays.

I am a little late in commenting…but I was definitely happy to see your latest post that you couldn’t live without us. 😉
If I don’t have time or anything interesting to say, then I just don’t blog that day. It’s not like we are getting paid for this!

Well I know I don’t comment often but your blog is one of the ways I start my day and I love all the sunshine you bring into it. My blog isn’t read much so I don’t get many haters but imagine it must wear you down after awhile. Never the less, I hope you come back soon!
